DarkSky International to Host Under One Sky 2026 Virtual Conference

DarkSky International will bring together lighting professionals, scientists, conservationists, and advocates for its Under One Sky 2026 virtual conference, taking place November 6–7.

The 24-hour global event will examine the challenges facing nighttime environments and the role of responsible lighting in protecting natural darkness. Participants will hear from industry experts and researchers on topics ranging from outdoor lighting practices to wildlife conservation and emerging technologies.

The program includes an opening keynote by journalist and author Megan Eaves-Egenes, who will discuss themes from her book Nightfaring: In Search of the Disappearing Darkness. Naturalist and writer J. Drew Lanham will deliver the closing keynote, focusing on the relationship between wildlife and the nighttime environment.

For lighting professionals, the conference will offer discussions on balancing outdoor illumination with public safety, minimizing light pollution, and addressing the potential effects of satellite expansion and space-based technologies.

Additional programming will examine the growing interest in dark sky tourism and the use of documentary filmmaking to encourage environmental awareness.

The conference will be held entirely online, allowing participants worldwide to join discussions and educational sessions throughout the two-day event.
