Something is Very Wrong in Cleveland

Cleveland.  Home of GE Lighting, Venture Lighting, TCP, and EYE Lighting.  All have been in the news and none of it good.

Today, the WSJ reports that GE Lighting is trying to unload its consumer lighting business. 

Two weeks ago we reported on TCP suing it’s founder, Ellis Yan.  While we have reported on many TCP struggles over the past few years, suing your founder reaches a new level.  

We wrote about Venture’s Ken Hawley, VP of Sales and Marketing, leaving for Green Creative.  This was after Venture’s Co-President/CFO, Wayne Vespol, also resigned less than a year ago.

Now we write about EYE Lighting.  EdisonReport has learned that between 20 to 26 people were laid off on 31 MAR.   We spoke to Greg Barry, VP of Sales and Marketing, who confirmed the layoff, but would not confirm the number of employees affected. Greg explained that most of the layoffs were in Operations and many were part time or temp workers.  He went on to explain that recently EYE had added people to their luminaire business.   We caught up with one of the pink slip recipients who explained that the layoff was unexpected and likely due to EYE’s transition struggle from legacy products to LED.   Developing….
