L+B: It’s more about the “Clinging of the Glasses” not the “Scanning of the Badges”

It’s more about the “Clinging of the Glasses” than the “Scanning of the Badges”

Joe Briscoe of PLC Multipoint said it best.   He loves this show because it is more about the “ Clinking of the Glasses” than the “Scanning of the Badges” like in the U.S.  At Light + Building manufacturers welcome you by offering something to eat or drink, and they invite you to sit and have a discussion.  It’s more meaningful.

He is right. Although this show is the best venue for global companies launching their latest technologies, it is equally about relationships. EdisonReport, which is not allowed to rent a booth at the major U.S. lighting show, received a complimentary booth at Light + Building, where we set up our studio. Over 100 people stopped by to talk during the week (having a well-stocked bar helped!)  While we have to be very selective on the booths that we visit, we were probably offered a seat and a drink at 80% of the companies we met.

This was a great show for EdisonReport as we made new friends and deepened our relationships with leaders in the US, European, and Chinese lighting communities.

We did not talk to an exhibitor or attendee who was unhappy with the Fair.
