The IES has released ANSI/IES LP-10-26, Lighting Practice: Lighting for Sustainability, the long-awaited update to the 2020 edition. The document is available now as a downloadable PDF through the IES Webstore at $90 ($70 for members), and is also included in the IES Lighting Library subscription.
The 84-page Lighting Practice document defines sustainable lighting design as “meeting the qualitative needs of the visual environment with the least impact on the natural environment,” and focuses on four core areas: Sustainable Lighting Design in Practice, Life Cycle, Material Health, and Frameworks for Considering Sustainability Goals. This edition also includes an overview of sustainable building rating systems, product labels and declarations, corporate responsibility programs, and initiatives for social and environmental justice within the lighting industry.
The release has been in high anticipation — Brienne Wilcock had been collecting contacts at the “Happy Circular Hour” event in Boston hosted by designing lighting (dl) magazine and Luxsi earlier this year from attendees eager to be notified the moment LP-10 dropped.
LP-10-26 is intended for lighting practitioners, designers, architects, engineers, building owners, contractors, and code authorities. It is available now at store.ies.org.
