Roles & Responsibilities:
The Lighting Engineer is a laboratory research position, responsible for independent conduct of routine and standardized experiments. This individual assists in the interpretation of research outcomes to support research studies, and assists in the clerical and supply aspects of the laboratory environment.
- Conducts routine and standardized experiments using appropriate research techniques specific to subject matter of the research project.
- Engineers lighting and electrical prototypes
- Performs photometric laboratory research
- Analyzes and assists in interpreting moderately complex results.
- Analyzes and assists in interpreting laboratory results.
- Maintains laboratory environment and assists in the upkeep of appropriate inventory; may include ordering of supplies.
- Logs and tests samples; prepares and submits laboratory materials and specimens for shipment.
- Assists in new and unexpected research experiments and techniques.
- Assists in the collection, analysis and review of experimental data for publication and presentation. Performs literature reviews, writes reports, and develops peer-reviewed manuscripts.
- Performs other related duties
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, lighting, science or related field required
- Two or more years of experience in a research environment

Compensation:
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $67,648.00 – $101,472.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
