IES and Garden Light LED Launch Second Course of Learn Night Light

NEW YORK — The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), in partnership with Garden Light LED, are excited to launch the second course of the popular e-learning series Learn Night Light: Observe. Design. Refine.

Taught by renowned lighting designer and author Janet Lennox Moyer, the second course in the e-learning program provides advanced knowledge to help lighting professionals create safe and pleasing nighttime landscape lighting environments. Throughout the 20 training sessions, Janet Lennox Moyer shares knowledge and expertise gained through 48 years of experience in the field and thousands of lighting design projects.

Flexible and accessible, the course allows participants to complete the training at their own pace and earn up to 20 continuing education credits recognized by the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES CEU), the American Society of Landscape Architects (LA CES), and the American Institute of Architects (AIA LU).

“Armed with advanced tools and techniques, Learn Night Light will help you create effects that produce stunning, usable, sustainable, and breathtaking landscape lighting scenes for your clients,” said Janet Lennox Moyer. At the end of these courses, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize landscape lighting differences from other types of lighting
  • Understand the secret of the science and art behind illumination
  • Understand humans’ perception of light and how we use light to guide people through nighttime landscape spaces
  • Elevate your capacity and expand your creativity with landscape lighting
  • Select the right lighting equipment using LED technology
  • Create lighting design plans tailored to your clients’ needs

Hours of video and hundreds of photographs, charts, and graphs showcase Janet Lennox Moyer’s hands-on project experience. A detailed workbook with project photographs accompanies each video session.

“Jan is a prolific educator and lyrical storyteller. Learn Night Light is one of the only landscape lighting design training programs available and unlike any other lighting training experience,” said Garden Light LED Strategy and Marketing Vice President Michelle Mueller. “After completing Learn Night Light, users will understand the art and science of lighting design and be able to start creating incredible lighting scenes for their clients.”

“This unique collaboration between the IES and Garden Light LED brings together the technical expertise and resources of both organizations to provide an unparalleled learning experience for lighting professionals and enthusiasts,” said Brienne Musselman, IES Director of Education and Standards. “We are delighted and honored to learn from the experience and knowledge of legendary designer and author Janet Lennox Moyer.”
