Sponsored by ArchLIGHT Summit and DALI Alliance — Where lighting leaders gather this September.

Here are the stories making news, coming to you from Denver.

Yesterday I attended a fascinating IES Board of Directors discussion. A few takeaways: they’re looking at increasing benefits for sustaining members, and while I can’t reveal the 2027 conference location just yet, IES plans to announce the 2028 dates and venue very soon. Emerging professionals and the sold-out Lighting Leadership Forum are making very bold plans for 2027. GLOW — Global Lighting Organizations Worldwide — is also making progress with opportunities for organizations to collaborate, but no talk of consolidating standards. And the IES learning portal is at 9,929 users, just shy of the 10,000 goal. Bottom line: IES has a very strong board of directors and they have a lot going on.

The IALD has opened entries for its 2027 International Lighting Design Awards. Designers and firms worldwide can submit eligible projects through 11 October, with early-entry savings available through 30 August. Winners will be celebrated in March 2027. Read more on designinglighting.com.

Visa Lighting has expanded its Serenity™ ceiling luminaire family with three nature-inspired decorative graphics. Available in healthcare and behavioral health models, the designs aim to create calming, biophilic environments that support patient comfort and well-being.

Yesterday the Dow was down 22 points, NASDAQ was up 143. The only loss was LSI, down 2%.
