IES26 honored four lighting professionals — Eric Lind, Jana Owens, Addie Smith, and Stephen Zhou — with Presidential Awards recognizing exceptional service, leadership, and contributions to lighting controls, design, public outreach, and the IES community.
IES26 also recognized Mark Lien, Leslie North, Shirley Coyle, Bob Davis, and Kevin Houser for distinguished service, design, technical achievement, and education, with honorees emphasizing mentorship, volunteering, and the importance of building the next generation of lighting professionals.
PureEdge Lighting has settled its patent infringement lawsuit against LightBlue USA/Rayhil over recessed trimless track lighting technology. The case, filed in March 2026, involved PureEdge’s patented 5/8-inch drywall recessed track system. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Cooper Lighting Solutions earned eight selections in the 2026 IES Progress Report — the most of any lighting manufacturer recognized. The honors span outdoor optics, connected controls, architectural downlighting, sports lighting, and high-performance luminaires, marking the company’s 16th year of recognition in 18 years.
On Friday the Dow dropped 108 points, NASDAQ was down 74. Penguin Solutions, the company that owns Cree LED, gained 5%.
