IES26 opened with a focus on community, mentorship, and membership, bringing emerging professionals and IES leaders together. Speakers emphasized the power of relationships while exploring how the Society can build stronger, more inclusive membership across the global lighting community.
Mark Roush led a roundtable discussion of Icons with Dave DeLora and Naomi Miller. They shared their successes and — more importantly — their failures. Dave said: “You have to screw up deeply and badly. Then you have to recover. Then you’re a professional.” It was a fascinating discussion.
AI is reshaping luxury residential lighting design by streamlining workflows, visualizing concepts, and supporting client communication. The IALD has opened entries for its 2027 International Lighting Design Awards. Designers and firms worldwide can submit eligible projects through 11 October, with early-entry savings available through 30 August. Winners will be celebrated in March 2027. Read more on designinglighting.com.
